This four-day gourmet journey makes a home of Luminous, an 11.3-hectare base in the rift valley, and eats its way from the rice and tea of the valley out to the swordfish and seafood of the Pacific.
Day 1 — Arrival · Valley Terroir
- 14:00 Transfer from Taitung into Luye
- 15:00 Check in at Luminous Hot Spring Resort (11.3 hectares, with an in-room hot spring)
- 16:30 A tea sitting at the source of Luye red oolong — an introduction to a tea grown nowhere else but Taitung
- 18:30 A private-chef valley dinner, built around local ingredients in season
- 20:00 The hot spring at Luminous
Day 2 — Chishang Rice · Guanshan
- 08:30 Breakfast at Luminous
- 09:30 Chishang: Mr. Brown Avenue and the rolling rice fields, and the story behind a single grain of Chishang rice
- 12:00 A Chishang rice lunch
- 14:30 A guided visit to the Guanshan rice mill, then a gentle ride around the town
- 18:30 Dinner in the valley
- 20:00 Back to Luminous for the hot spring
Day 3 — The Coastal Catch
- 09:00 Out to the East Coast and Sanxiantai, with its arched bridge reaching across the sea
- 11:00 The strange rock formations of Xiaoyeliu
- 12:30 Chenggong Fishing Port: a lunch of swordfish and the day's catch (swordfish subject to the fishing season)
- 15:30 The return through the valley
- 18:30 An indigenous table — a third taste, beyond the mountains and the sea
- Back to the hot spring at Luminous
The Jialulan recreation area is closed for renovation until 2026/12/31; the coastal leg is served instead by Sanxiantai and Xiaoyeliu.
Day 4 — A Slow Breakfast · Departure
- 08:30 An unhurried breakfast at Luminous
- 10:00 A valley market or tea estate for something to bring home
- 12:00 A local lunch
- 14:00 Transfer to your departure point
Why this journey
Four themed meals — from the tea sitting at the source, to Chishang rice, to swordfish at the port, to the private-chef table in the valley — draw Taitung's mountains and coast into a single line you can taste. Each evening returns to Luminous, and ends in the hot spring.
The swordfish run, room availability, and pricing are time-sensitive, and will be confirmed by season and aligned with Luminous before your departure is set.
